The barasingha, also known as the swamp deer, is native to the wetlands and grasslands of India and Nepal. Recognized for its stunning, multi-tined antlers, which can have up to 20 points, the barasingha is a symbol of beauty and grace. These deer are excellent swimmers and spend much of their time near water, grazing on aquatic plants and grasses. Once on the brink of extinction due to habitat destruction and hunting, the barasingha has made a comeback thanks to dedicated conservation programs. Their resurgence highlights the importance of protecting wetlands and grasslands for wildlife.
